Bringing home a new puppy can be exciting and also a little daunting. At Stonehill Aussies we want to help make the transition as easy as possible. Below are some links to websites and videos that have great information on crate training and potty training.
TIP: If your puppy is crying or whining in the crate, try putting a blanket over the crate, covering all sides. This can have a calming effect for some puppies. If possible, keep the crate in your bedroom at night. A puppy that is separated from the family will often cry or whine out of loneliness.
- Be consistent-do the same thing, in the same place, at the same time, each time!
- Limit their environment until they are completely potty trained
- Reward correct behavior!
- Be patient and realistic- your new puppy won’t be trained in a day or two!
